History


The Russian National Medical Society of Preventive Cardiology (RNMSPC) (before 2013 named – the Russian National Society for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation) was established and officially registered in 2007 with the participation of the Society of Cardiologists of the Russian Federation. The objective from the outset was to promote coordination of specialists in the field of cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation.  Members of the RNMSPC are cardiologists, general practitioners, and specialists in the areas of preventive medicine, rehabilitation, and public health.  All members are united by the desire to contribute to reducing of cardiovascular diseases burden in Russia.


The mission of the Russian National Medical Society of Preventive Cardiology is:

to promote the development of policy, improvement of scientific research, clinical practice and education projects in the field of preventive cardiology in the Russian Federation.

The Society was first introduced to the Russian medical community at the Russian National Congress of Cardiologists on October 9-11, 2007. Many cardiologists participating in the Congress expressed a wish to become members of the Society in order to contribute to improvement of the situation with CVD in Russia. During the Russian National Congress of Cardiologists 2007 the Society delivedaRussian-EuropeanEducational Course on CVD Prevention, followed by distribution of certificates.

The Board and Scientific Council of the Society were elected in 2007 and an independent website for the Society was launched soon afterwards www.cardioprevent.ru.

In the same year, the Board of the Society authorized the idea of annual conferences. The first All-Russian Scientific-Practical Conference with International Participation "CARDIOVASCULAR PREVENTION AND REHABILITATION 2008", was delived on May 26-27, 2008 in the National Research Center for Preventive Medicine (Moscow). Between 2009 and 2011 the annual conferences were held annually in Moscow. In 2012 the conference was hosted by the Altay region (Barnaul).

2011 - 2013

Since 2011 the Society, together with the Altay State Medical University has organized an annual All-Russian Scientific-Practical Conferences of Young Scientists. In 2011-2013 these conferences were held in Barnaul.

In past years the Society has been an active participant in the Russian National Congress of Cardiologists, National Congress of General practitioners, the All-Russian Educational forum “Cardiology” and other large-scale events (by organizing symposiums, panel discussions, schools and exhibition stands).

2009 - 2011

In 2009-2011 the Society together with the Russian Scientific Society of Cardiologists and the biggest Russian political party “EdinayaRossiya” participated in the organization of a major project - the All-Russian Educational Initiative for doctors and citizens “Healthy Hearts”. Over 3 years the project has been held in 25 of the largest cities in Russia and gave more than 40 000 people with an opportunity to learn more about CVD prevention and their health status (risk factor screening). Thousands of doctors were provided with the opportunity to upgrade their professional skills in  the field of primary and secondary prevention of CVD.

2010 - 2011

In 2010 the Society proposed development of the first Russian National Guidelines on Cardiovascular Prevention. The initiative was conducted by a working group and committee of experts. The First Russian National Guidelines on Cardiovascular Prevention were endorsed by the National Congress of Cardiologists in October 2011.

Since 2007

Since the foundation in 2007 the Society has collaborated closely with the European Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (EACPR). The collaboration includes joint educational activities (European-Russian Educational Courses) and scientific activities(Euro-Care-D, HeartQual, EUROASPIRE,SURF, etc). Since 2011 the Society has been represented at the largest European preventive forum – EuroPRevent. The Society"s stand has a high level of interest.
