On 28 August 2026, the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) published updated guidelines on cardiac rehabilitation in the European Heart Journal. The document systematizes current approaches and provides clear guidance for clinicians organizing recovery for patients with cardiovascular diseases. Previously, cardiac rehabilitation often focused primarily on physical training, while psychological support, optimization of pharmacotherapy, and assistance with return to work were insufficiently addressed. The new recommendations aim to close these gaps and ensure a comprehensive, individualized approach across all stages of rehabilitation.
